AMLSN ELECTION: THE MAN, THE MISSION AND OUR MANDATE
………for every selfish politician there is a dedicated leader…Abraham Lincoln
Since the enactment of MLSCN Acts 11 of 2003 the structure and stature of Biomedical laboratory practice has grown in Nigeria without doubt. While the Act has consolidated a lot of gains both for the profession and the general public it has also attracted numerous anti-professional foes that have sworn to generate anarchy and medico-legal crisis until they midwife our dislocation.
Issues of harmonized civil service scheme and approved entry point have continuous to remain elusive and miragious leaving our colleagues not getting value for service delivery. Today Medical Laboratory Scientist is the most marginalized among the health care fraternity and despite being the most proactive, but for how long….?
The inability of AMLSN leadership to properly make the required `noise` for its already jittering members giving them at least face value and serving as the echo behind their unanimous voices necessitates a declaration of a state of emergency on AMLSN leadership and an urgent need of a change progeny.
These boiling agenda amongst other imperatives are reasons why we most genuinely look inward for a broad spectrum man: beyond ethnic, regional and religious divide on whom we can entrust the sundry issues of professional bias.
THE MANY SIDES OF MR MANASON RUBAINU
Having personally investigated the system certain facts are too true to be denied or ignored and since facts don’t lie and truth lives forever.
Mr. Manason Rubainu is a tested and respected Medical Laboratorian within and beyond our national shores. A disciplined professional and an intellectual par excellence. His tough talking style /posture especially when professional interest is at stake is a plus. A perfect gentleman whose executive carriage/ personality intimidates from a distance. Since he shares the aspiration of the young professional colleagues he is therefore a perfect bridge between the old and the new.
Over the years he has accrued experience, exposure and expertise from several fronts.
1. AMLSN executive member at state and national levels,
2. Member of old Bauchi state restructuring committee of Heath care delivery services in the state
3. Board member, of Federal Medical Centre Makurdi (twice)
4. Member NASCAP laboratory and blood safety committee
5. Member, Expert working Grouping (E.W.G.) for HIV test kit evaluation and HIV testing algorithm committee for Nigeria.
6. Member, oral polio vaccine (OPV) evaluation test result interpretation committee for Nigeria during OPV safety crisis.
7. The only Head of laboratory Services in the Nigerian University Teaching Hospitals who is a Medical Laboratory Scientist
8. Amongst many others.
An ancient practice can be nothing but an ancient error. Therefore doing it differently this time around is scientific in order to plot the graph of change. A call therefore for the endorsement of his candidature is both a great professional and national deal. Forward ever!
